Traditional talk therapy (TTT), based on a model that is more than a century old, represents a limitation in the treatment of addictive behaviors and phobias. We learn under an ideal degree of stress.[1,2]

CIT condenses 4 months of therapy into 1-2 weeks to shape a therapeutic challenge  as linked to the brain's plasticity.

CIT treats cravings or  panic.

That is, the brain’s plasticity is activated under novel and/or challenging conditions. Meeting with a therapist once every week or two, for only 50 minutes at a time, can hardly be called challenging, at least within the context of addiction and phobia treatment. TTT is simply too casual to reverse the hyper-learning discussed in plasticity. That's why I offer concentrated, intensive therapy  (CIT) as a treatment option.

CIT focuses on the fundamental symptoms of addictions and phobias, on cravings and panic and nothing else, in a short-term treatment experience designed to enhance self-control. CIT condenses the length of treatment from months into weeks, even days. While each treatment plan various to some degree, CIT packs 12 hours of treatment into 2 weeks. With 50 minutes the standard "hour" in psychology, I offer the equivalent of 14 sessions in 1-2 weeks.  In other words, I condense 4 months of TTT therapy into a 1-2 weeks to shape such a therapeutic challenge .[3-5]
